Bereavement
Have you been recently bereaved?
When you lose someone very dear to you your whole world is turned upside down. At such times people can react very differently, maybe you just want to be left on your own, or maybe you would appreciate being able to talk to someone and share your feelings, and talk about both the happy and sad times.
At Crofton we have a group of caring people who would like to be there for you and to help you in any way they can. So if you would like to talk to someone then please do not hesitate to contact the church office (01329 661154) on Mondays to Fridays from 9 am to 1 pm or e-mail us at the bereavement@croftonparish.org.uk.
The Annual Memorial Service
A service is held in Holy Rood church on the third Sunday in October at 3pm for anyone who has been bereaved in the previous year. During this gentle and sensitive service there is opportunity to remember your loved one and to light a candle if you wish.
The ministers who have led the funeral services at the church or crematorium during the past year will be at the memorial service: they are also available afterwards if you would like to have a chat with them over a cup of tea. Many people have found attending this service to be a very positive experience and an enormous help to them as they continue to come to terms with the loss of their loved one.
The memorial service is open to anyone who has been bereaved, irrespective of when their loved one died or even if they have never attended the church before. However, we do send out personal invitations to this service to everyone who has lost loved ones in the past year where the funeral services were conducted by one of our ministers.
If you would like to know more about the Memorial Service then please contact the church office (01329 661154) on Mondays to Fridays from 9 am to 1 pm or e-mail us at the bereavement@croftonparish.org.uk.
Friendship groups
When you feel able to go out and meet people again there are a number of friendship groups that meet in Holy Rood church centre that you might like to go along to. Of these groups "Cup of Tea and Company" and the "Friends’ Tea Circle" are specifically aimed at providing friendship and support for those suffering the pain of bereavement.
