It is still the custom for many people to “give up” something, or make some kind of sacrifice during Lent in preparation for Easter.  About 20 years ago, Lent Lunches were started at crofton with this purpose in mind. Simple lunches of soup, bread and cheese will be served in the church centre at Holy Rood every Saturday in Lent starting 20th February from Noon till 1.30pm. All proceeds from the sale of the lunches will go to Tearfund - one of the charities supported by Crofton. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and enjoy a chat over lunch.
