Services At Holy Rood

At Holy Rood each service has a distinct character and style. The 9:30 am Sunday service is an informal, contemporary, lively service with a band and modern worship. On most Sundays, separate age-related clubs are provided for children and young people from pre-school to teens, which run at the same time as the service in church. There is also a creche for children under 2 years 9 months. Refreshments are served in the church hall afterwards, and this is a great time to meet and get to know people. On the third and fifth Sundays of the month the service includes Holy Communion.

The 11.10 am Sunday service is a quiter, more traditional service, using Common Worship liturgy, with hymns accompanied by the church organ. The service includes Holy Communion on the first, second and fourth Sundays of every month. Wine and nibbles are served after the service on the first Sunday of the month.

The 6.30 pm Sunday evening services are informal. The service includes Holy Communion on the second and fourth Sunday of every month. On the first Sunday of the month, instead of the usual 6.30 pm service, there is a very informal café-style meeting called “The Place” in the church hall between 5-7 pm. This provides an opportunity to chat, partake of refreshments, and to discuss informally relevant issues relating to the Christian faith.

Every Thursday morning at 10.30am there is a Book of Common Worship Holy Communion service.
