Services At Holy Rood

At Holy Rood each service has a distinct character and style.

9:30 am Sunday service is an well-attended, lively, contemporary and informal family service with a worship band. All of the songs, readings and prayers are shown on overhead screens so you will have no difficulty in following the service. The service generally lasts about one hour and fifteen minutes: coffee/tea and biscuits are served in the church hall afterwards. On most Sundays, separate age-related groups are provided for children and young people from pre-school to teens, which run at the same time as the service in church. There is also a creche for children under 2 years 9 months. Refreshments are served in the church hall afterwards, and this is a great time to meet and get to know people. On the third Sundays of the month the service includes Holy Communion.

11.10 am Sunday service is a quieter, more traditional service, using Common Worship liturgy, with hymns accompanied by the church organ. The service includes Holy Communion on the first, second and fourth Sundays of every month. Wine and nibbles are served after the service on the first Sunday of the month.

6.30 pm Sunday evening services are fairly informal. The service includes Holy Communion on the second and fourth Sunday of every month. ‘Church in the Community’ is on the first Sunday evening of the month, we don't meet in our church buildings, we go our separate ways in small groups to do church in different ways. Maybe at the pub, in a cafe, in a home, out for a walk, watching and discussing a film or a piece of art.  Look out for details in the notice sheet - or start a new expression of church yourself

Every Thursday morning at 10.30am there is a Book of Common Worship Holy Communion service.
